Bio

Lucius Lichte serves the Biocomplexity Institute as Project Manager since April 2022. Before joining the Institute, he built his career in international relations and science diplomacy. As Senior Science and Technology Advisor at the German Consulate in Boston, Lucius focused on strengthening the academic, economic, and political ties between Germany and New England while organizing high-level delegation visits from politics, business, and academia.

Lucius also served as Co-Chair of the Science & Technology Diplomatic Council Boston, a member-based organization focused on growing professional networks and engaging partners from universities, research institutes, and industry.

From 2013 to 2015 he was an international volunteer at Innisfree village, a residential community for adults with disabilities in Crozet, VA. He continues to volunteer today on the advisory board of a New Hampshire-based nonprofit that aims to improve career opportunities for high school students.

Lucius holds a M.S. Degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Hohenheim and a B.S. Degree in Economics from the Christian Albrecht’s University in Kiel.

On Friday, November 17, the Biocomplexity Institute once again hosted a student group from the Charlottesville Business and Innovation Council (CBIC) Student Tech Tours. These annual tours, organized by the CBIC, introduce local middle and high school students to the dynamic high-technology world in the Charlottesville-Albemarle County region.

In alignment with the University of Virginia’s goal to move its research from prominence to preeminence, deans, faculty, and researchers from across Grounds got together to participate in the formal launch of the Contagion Science program, an initiative funded by the University as part of its Prominence-to-Preeminence STEM initiative.
