Bio

Galen is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Virginia, advised by Madhav Marathe. The kinds of questions he is interested in have to do with exploring how data can be used (or ought to be used) within the public sphere. This involves several aspects, including network science, agent-based modeling, privacy, and graph learning. Prior to UVA, he worked with Blase Ur and, before that, with Ariel Feldman at the University of Chicago, where he completed a master’s in computer science as well as a Master’s of Legal Studies. He received his undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Reed College in Portland, Oregon.
