Bio

Brian Klahn is a research scientist in the Network Systems Science and Advanced Computing division. Klahn served in the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power Program, which included active duty in the first Persian Gulf War. Upon honorable discharge, Klahn went on to earn a B.S. in Molecular Biology, followed by an M.S. in Neuro-Physiology from the University of Wisconsin. Klahn’s years of biological wet-lab experience combined with his strong ongoing interest in computers, led to his work in the analysis of genomics data. This work ultimately led to exposure to, and an interest in, biological simulation software. Since 2013, Klahn has been a core developer in the COPASI simulation software project. In recent years, he also has been involved in creating and developing robust, maintainable, and extensible software systems and tools for large-scale network simulations and analysis.
