Akhil Sai Peddireddy is a Graduate Research Assistant at the Biocomplexity Institute, Network Systems Science and Advanced Computing division. He is pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Virginia. His research interests include Global Surveillance of Epidemics and Time-series forecasting of infectious diseases using statistical and machine learning models. Akhil is passionate about working on projects that have societal impact and which could bring a phenomenal transformation into our lives. He believes in a multidisciplinary approach, inspired by the Biocomplexity Institute, and strives to use the various tools in arsenal (data, software and models) to tackle the problems. At the Biocomplexity Institute, Akhil has worked on multiple projects which include State-level Influenza Surveillance, COVID-19 Surveillance Dashboard and Forecasting of COVID-19 cases using Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF). Akhil is also interested in Computer Vision, specifically Generative Adversarial Networks, and Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies.
