Talk Title: Introducing Tristance: A Striking Discovery in the Mathematical Biocomplexity of Genomic Surveillance

Abstract: Based on a recent paper in the Journal of Computational Biology, our speakers will walk you through a novel approach in genomic sequencing and feedback loops that may provide a paradigm shift in real-time genomic monitoring of pathogens such as the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its mutations. To understand the feedback loop we must fundamentally reframe current approaches to genetic data, moving away from a pair of sequences to a triple of sequences or what they’ve introduced as, Tristance: A higher dimensional metric to real-time genomic surveillance of pathogenic evolution. Please join us for this interesting talk.

Welcome and Introduction by Dr. Chris Barrett, Executive Director, Biocomplexity Institute
Presentation by Dr. Christian Reidys, Division Director, Mathematical Biocomplexity, Biocomplexity Institute
